He felt the light underneath his eye lids, so he opened his eyes, “morning love,” he heard. Opening the last of the curtains, she walked towards him and repeated, “Good morning love.”
He held her tight, kissed her head and said the same. She got up, walked into the bathroom as he worked to get himself up. Last night was rough. The entire day was rough. He shouldn’t have followed her to see her work. He should have stayed quiet. But, the sex afterwards was great - he smiled as she walked back in.
“Was that a fake smile Ant?” She sat on the bed and began to unbraid her hair.
“Was it?” He asked.
“Are you still upset about yesterday?”
Ant uncovered himself and embraced her once again. He kissed her neck, and continued downward.
“Ant,” she paused and looked at him.
“Yesterday was different Renee,” he sat, “it was the first time I saw you do your work and now I’m scared I might lose you.”
She smiled and got up. Her naked ass turned him on but he got up and walked into the bathroom. Through the bathroom’s mirror, he watched her dress up. A fun day together at the zoo was ahead of them. He smiled and looked at himself in the mirror. He thought of yesterday’s events again and the sirens that came afterwards - what if they found evidence of what she did?
He brushed, completed his morning routine and walked out of the bedroom to the living room.
“I see that you’re still thinking about it, Ant.”
“Sorry,” he said, and began to eat the eggs she made them.
They both ate. In silence. She looked at him after she was done.
“I called the organization,” she began, “and they take care of everything.” She assured him.
“Good.”
They got out of the car and began their ride to the zoo. The car ride was filled with unsaid words but laughter.
After they got their tickets, Renee paused. She grabbed hold of Ant’s hands and walked him to sit next to the Lion’s Statue.
She breathed in, held her hands on her tummy, “I’m pregnant,” she closed her eyes and uttered.
She opened her eyes and saw Ant's eyes fixated on her stomach, “are you happy?” She asked.
His eyes stayed fixated on her tummy. As his lips widened to a smile, “Anthony Maven,” they heard and looked to their right.
3 men stood next to them. One of them held up a badge and proceeded to utter the words, “you’re under arrest for the murder of Janet and Zeke Swindon. You have the right to remain silent and everything or anything you say can and will be used against you in the court of law.”
While they handcuffed him, he looked at Renee’s eyes, and the stomach. She couldn’t have framed me for her deeds. No, she couldn’t have. She told me the organization cleaned things up. She told me that. She looked at her hands and it caressed her stomach - why did you frame me? He began to think.
She said nothing and looked away as they took him out of the zoo.
Tears began to fall from her eyes and she turned around and wiped them off.
“Well, baby, shall we see the animals? Dad has to go away for just a tiny bit” She sniffled and continued with her day at the zoo.
